Why our nervous system stays stuck and how breathwork reaches what willpower can't
Nervous system dysregulation is a phrase everyone throws around now, but do we actually know what it is and the significance of what's happening in the body, or why it gets dysregulated in the first place?
Here's what's actually happening: your body is still running a threat response to something that's no longer there, because the pattern was wired in below conscious thought, usually in childhood, long before you had any rational say in it.
That's exactly why willpower alone was never going to switch it off. What does switch it off is a change your body can feel, not one your mind can argue for: a nervous system, at the cellular level, finally learning it's safe.
That's what breathwork does.
