Why this briefing

Your 2027 plan is set. Do you know what burnout is costing it?

Burnout rarely shows up as a line in the accounts. It shows up as slower decisions, quiet resignations, rising absence and change programmes that stall. By the time it is visible, it is expensive.

In 50 minutes, Bal Matharu sets out the evidence, the hidden cost, and what senior teams can measure now, while there is still time to act.

What you'll take away

Five things you can use in your next leadership meeting.

  1. The real cost. Where burnout sits on your balance sheet, using published UK and global data.

  2. Why wellbeing spend often misses. The difference between helping people cope and restoring their capacity.

  3. The physiology behind it. What happens to judgement and decision making when a nervous system stays on high alert.

  4. What to measure in 2027. The capacity indicators a board can track, and how to benchmark them.

  5. What changed for one leadership team. A real case: 50 senior leaders at a large UK enterprise, with stress down 25% and wellbeing up 20% in four months.
